A Visit from the County Champions!
Tuesday will live forever in the memories of the pupils, staff and wider Clonlisk National School community as we welcomed Offaly Senior Hurling Champions, the Shinrone Senior Hurling Team, to our school. The excitement had been building all morning and when the team arrived, the children gave them a rapturous welcome and superb renditions of 'Best Day of Our Lives' and the 'Offaly Rover'. We are extremely proud of our former pupils, who along with their team and management, were the toast of the school as they paraded the Seán Robbins Cup into the general purpose room.
Inspirational captain and past pupil, Jason Sampson, spoke to the boys and girls about how special it is to be part of the team that has won Shinrone's first ever senior title and he grew even more in popularity (if that's possible!) when he suggested that the pupils be given homework off. Various members of the team fielded some excellent questions from the boys and girls too.
Congratulations to everyone involved with the team and many thanks to Shinrone GAA for the treats which they provided for the children. We would like to wish Shinrone Senior Hurling Team the very best of luck in the Leinster Club Championship which will take place in a few weeks time when they take on Naas GAA.
