60th Birthday Present for Clonlisk National School

Dear Friends of Clonlisk N.S.,

This year Clonlisk N.S. reaches a significant milestone, celebrating its 60th anniversary as a thriving, proud, rural primary school which has produced many luminaries in the fields of education, sport, music, art & politics. Built in 1960, it replaced the old school which had served the people of the Clonlisk area since 1857. It began as a two roomed school and has undergone considerable developments in its 60 years to become the school that it is today.

As part of the Diamond Jubilee of our school and in forging on with this legacy to uphold the great traditions of the past for the pupils of 2020 and beyond, a number of fundraising initiatives targeted towards the upgrading of our facilities were planned. The Covid-19 pandemic left us with no option but to hold off on these fundraising efforts with the most disappointing cancellation being that of the school’s production of ‘Belle & the Beast’. However, “the show must go on” and as an alternative we’re using this online fundraising platform to generate some much needed funds necessary for the upgrade of the building, creation of additional facilities and storage solutions at Clonlisk N.S. These new developments will ensure that Clonlisk N.S. can operate safely and successfully in 2020, during the Covid-19 pandemic and in future years.

The motto of Clonlisk is “Ní neart go cur le chéile” which translates as “There’s no strength without unity”. With this in mind, the Board of Management, Parents’ Association and staff of Clonlisk N.S. are calling on our present families, future generations, past pupils and well-wishers both near and far to support us in reaching our fundraising target of €20,000. All donations will be greatly appreciated. Let’s work together to give Clonlisk N.S. its best birthday gift yet! Go raibh míle maith agaibh go léir as ucht bhur gcuid tacaíochta.
