5th and 6th Just Read 'Holes'
Holes
By Louis Sachar
Recently we have been reading the book Holes in our class. I personally really loved the book and think that the author Louis Sachar has a great imagination. The storyline is very gripping and after a few chapters you really start to understand the characters.
Holes is about a young boy, whose name is Stanley Yelnats, who is blamed of a crime that he did not commit. Having the choice of going to either Jail or a Juvenile Correction Facility called Camp Green Lake, he chooses the camp. He thinks this camp is just a normal camp, but he soon discovers that it is not, it’s actually a camp that is making them dig holes to ‘build character’, which is based out in the desert. Stanley meets his fellow campmates and after a while gets used to the hot temperatures and digging holes. But Stanley and his friends soon find out they might not be just there to build character, but searching for something. With the help of his new friends, will Stanley be able to clear his name or will he crack under the pressure?
At the end of the book, it takes a few unexpected twists but this will get the reader fully engaged.
If I was going to give this book an online review, I would give it 5 stars. It must have taken Louis a few months to write it, then type it and send it to the publishers to get published. This is one the best books I have ever read. Louis Sachar has also written another book called ‘The Boy In The Girl’s Bathroom’, which is also a great read, and many, many more.
