An Amazing Adventure to the Aviva
It was an early start for the children of Clonlisk N.S. on Wednesday morning as we boarded a bus bound for Dublin filled with excitement for the day ahead. It was a historic occasion for all of us because Clonlisk N.S. pupils would be playing in the FAI All-Ireland Finals in the Aviva Stadium for the first time ever. We chanted our way to Dublin! In Dublin, we met up with the parents that came to support the team and we all made our way to our seats with banners, headbands and flags. The boys got off to a great start beating the Connacht Champions 1-0 while we were cheering them on, getting our faces painted and eating hot-dogs in the stands. Fionn Carney scored a cracking goal! We were beaten 2-0 in the second game by the Ulster Champions who went on to become the FAI All-Ireland 'A' Champions 2018. This was a very tough encounter but the boys persevered until the final whistle sounded. We lost the final match 4-2 with super goals coming from James Liffey and Robert Carney.Next, we watched the medal ceremony where the boys received their medals for coming in 3rd place. After that, all the children exited the stadium and made their way back to the bus.The children chatted all the way to Junction 14 where we all got ice-cream and enjoyed them outside in the sun .We then made our way back on to the bus. We arrived back at the school at 6:25pm. We were all so tired .It had been an amazing day. We are all so proud of the boys and all they've achieved this year.
